Part 7 The Music Listener
This program portrays music’s most basic lesson, the importance of listening. The story is presented in mime by the Magic Circle Mime company with conductor Paul Anthony McRae and the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The mimes try desperately to contribute to the concert in the role of bugle and cymbal player, dancer and singer, only to find their interruptions out of place. Through music including the Polka from Golden Age Ballet by Shostakovich, the Dance from Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky, and the Toreadors March from Carmen, Maestro McRae teaches the mimes how to become an important part of the concert when they become careful listeners. Grade levels
K-6 Length 29 minutes.
