The Elements of Music DVD Super Bundle
$295.00 $198.00 On Sale!

SAVE $100 with our Super Bundle DVD offer
This wonderful SIX program series was designed specifically to spark new student interest in music’s basic building blocks. Programs include complete teaching guides. These teacher guides provide hundreds of concepts in space science and comparisons to the harmony in space, the interpretation of stars as constellations to musical notes, and the beat of a pulsar to the rhythm of music.  Featured are London's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Paul Anthony McRae, with vocalist Bobby McFerrin.  Performances and d music instruction are blended with dramatic video from NASA space lab.  Each program is approximately 26 minutes in length.  See details here of each of the six different Elements of Music programs.

Program 1  RHYTHM Compares the rhythms of music to rhythms found in space and broken down into its component parts including beat, meter and tempi. Musical examples include Pictures at an Exhibition, Capriccio Espagnol, and more.

Program 2 MELODY, what comprises a melody and how melodies express thoughts and emotions. Concepts of pitch, half and whole step intervals, major and minor scales, ascending and descending melodies, melody pitch range, and tonality are imaginatively presented.

Program 3 HARMONY & DYNAMICS includes musical examples dated back to 1570, as chords, harmonic progression, consonance, dissonance, tension and relaxation are brought to life by singers and the royal Philharmonic Orchestra.  Dynamics are explored through the Great Gate of Kiev as we learn about crescendo and decrescendo.

Program 4 MUSICAL FORM Here we learn how longer musical pieces can be broken down into smaller component parts using familiar melodies such as Greensleeves and Scott Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag. Through these examples we learn how form is an important element of music.

Program 5 MUSICAL TONE COLOR, not colors we see, but rather how we can hear colors as we learn all the colors of the various instruments, voice colors, and a MIDI organ demonstration. Ravel’s Bolero provides a melody that we can hear played by a variety of instruments as well asmusic of Wagner, Korsakov, Puccini, Bizet, and more.

Program 6 MUSICAL INTERPRETATION brings a rousing finale to the series and includes the interpretation of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, as students examine all that we have learned in the series on rhythm, melody, harmony, dynamics, and tone color.
